Painting Basics: Info/Registration

Hello on this rainy fall morning.   You might have seen posts about my upcoming workshop in October.  I will be hosting a fun, hands-on workshop for couples called Painting Basics.  The workshop is an opportunity for you to learn basic furniture painting "tips" while transforming a piece of your own furniture.   If you are signed up for my newsletter, you received a notification email early in September detailing the workshop.  If you are not currently a newsletter recipient, I've included the details in this post.  On that note....if you are interested in receiving my newsletter,  just click below:

When is the workshop?

The workshop will be Thursday, October 22, from 6 to 8:45pm.  Depending on the size of your piece, your project might not be complete or dry!  No worries.  You can leave your piece with me and pick it up within the next several days after completion of the workshop. By then, you will have already had the experience painting your piece and will know the basics to complete your project on your own.

What to Bring?

You will need to bring 1 small to medium sized piece of furniture of your own.  Chair sets, or smaller kids' table/chair sets would be appropriate for the time allotted.  Scratches, knicks, and gashes are OK, but make sure the piece has decent bones. Examples might include bedside tables, chests, chairs (without upholstery), sewing tables, or accent tables.  The piece should be made of wood.  I will provide all supplies.  If you register to attend the class and you have a specific color preference please let me know what that is in advance.  I'll make sure I have it available for you.

What type of painting will I learn?

In this workshop you will learn about using chalk paint and a a variety of distressing techniques that can be used with chalk paint. If you missed my post on chalk paint you can find that here:

I realize not everyone loves distressed  furniture!   I want you to get the most out of this experience by learning painting styles YOU want to learn!    If you have a very small piece, feel free to bring it in addition to your other larger piece (like a kiddie chair, footstool, or magazine rack.  You will have an opportunity to try another paint technique on your smaller item if you desire.

Where is the workshop?

The workshop will be in my home.  My workshop is currently in several locations in my home!  Scheduling this workshop is going to help keep me on track for completing my home workshop project!  I want you to have the space you need to work, and an added bonus would be a pretty, visually appealing space as well!

What is the cost?

The cost for this workshop is $75.00 per couple.  The cost includes all materials and you will walk away with a brand new piece of furniture!   I am not taking advance payments. Your payment (cash or check) will be accepted the evening of the class.

During the workshop, I will provide demonstration and work alongside you.  The atmosphere will be extremely casual....questions must be asked the whole evening and many laughs must be had!  I really want this class to be a fun, and engaging experience for all who attend! And remember, this will be my very first workshop, so I will be learning right along with you!  Please feel free to share my workshop information on facebook to help spread the word!   I am excited about this workshop and really hope it is a success!
