10 painted piece in 2017

HAPPY NEW YEAR!   Starting a new year means different things for each of us.  For me, it means a fresh start, and a time to reflect on the past year.

With that said, I've chosen 10 customer projects from 2017 to share with you on this frigid New Year's Eve.  Each one has its own unique story....

1.  The Antique cabinet

I've always said that not all pieces are meant to be painted. This cabinet is a perfect example. The cabinet's owner, Deirdre, loved her piece, and knew she didn't want the entire thing painted. She did, however, want a pop of color added.   We went with a "minty" fresh green paint for the cabinet's interior.

Sometimes all it takes is a little paint and a piece can instantly become new again.....

2.  Black Dresser

This dresser went from "cotton candy kid"  to "classic", and its owner couldn't be happier! Amy recognized the potential in this piece, and she knew where to get help........Novo Decor.  Six weeks later, her dresser was brand "new":

3.  Map table

Good story.  Last winter at my holiday open house, Katie and Scott saw a painted table I had for sale. They loved the painted wood, and the decorative paper beneath its glass covered surface, but, they didn't need to buy another table.  They had plenty of tables already.......

One such table met ALL criteria for a transformation; it even had a glass covered surface.  They hired Novo Decor to paint their table.  After they chose a map of their favorite travel destination (Hawaiin islands), and a paint color, their little old table was customized for them into a gorgeous accent piece they'll enjoy for years to come....

4.  Geometric bench

This "naked bench" received a radically new look.. Its owner, Becky, had someone build the bench for her, but it desperately needed clothes!   Becky had color ideas in mind, and wanted something "fun" for her bench.  With that request I designed a geometric pattern on the bench's surface, and got to work staining, painting, and distressing to completion.

Here's the result:

5. Sleek Black Buffet

Another great story! Beth "inherited" a buffet from the previous owners of a home she purchased.  The time came for Beth to move out of that house....and then inspiration struck. Beth hired Novo Decor to paint the buffet for her new home.  And paint it got! Sleek black paint to be exact.....

Why oh why didn't I stage this beautiful buffet for the AFTER picture?  Live and learn.

Beth sent me a picture of her buffet all "dressed" up.  Doesn't it look great?

6. Hutch (with a killer fabric-lined interior)

This hutch story warms my heart.  Valerie reached out to me after finding Novo Decor on Facebook.  She was looking for a hutch, and wanted it painted.  I began the search for her.  It took longer than I had anticipated, but, great things are worth waiting for right?

I found "The One".  The next thing I know, I am painting the hutch in a beautiful gray hue, and then lining it with some seriously killer fabric.  The final reveal was so very touching.  I even got a hug! Aw, Valerie!

7.  Modernized end tables

I remember these two tables in my childhood house.   I probably even ate cheetos on them.   They were like any table in the 70's....very brown, and they had GREAT bones.....still do; two key factors that made them outstanding candidates for a simple paint update.

Today, the tables are in my sister Jennifer's house She loves how they turned out....and so does her husband (who might have been skeptical of having them painted).....

The difference was fun to see.  I immediately had to style them.....

The table surface was slightly distressed to reveal the original wood beneath the paint. It was a great way to show the character of the piece.

8.     Dated table turned chic modern office table

Mirjam contacted me asking whether I could help her find an office desk.  She also wanted it painted gray, to go with her brand new office space in her home.  This is what transpired:

The table works great in Mirjam's office; not too big, not too small.  And all she had to do was choose a color.   Sometimes those non-traditional pieces are exactly what we need for a space.  This piece fits the bill.

9.  Gold-dipped nesting tables

These nesting tables had been in Mirjam's family for quite some time.  They were in need of a make-over to go along with her "new" living room.  They received some paint in "duck egg blue", and a bit of gold-dipping for fun....

10.  Geo Dresser with vintage lined interior

Ninety-eight percent of the time, the pieces I paint are already owned by the customer.  But every so often,  I acquire a piece of furniture that is no longer wanted.  These pieces allow me to "experiment", which is fun.

I'm glad I had the chance to work on this piece.  It turned out cuter than I imagined.....and sold within a week.......
